I recently rec'd a barber kit from Amazon. It was, of course, made in China. As always, I peruse the user manual before I start using anything I buy-especial Chinese products-which is just about everything.
Anyway, I'm used to a certain amount of confusion but the mistakes are usually pretty minor. Then I saw what you see below. It is the most garbled set of directions I've ever seen. The mistakes range from "before use & after suing" to "way of waste battery disposal recharge". There's more- a lot more.
Someone needs to improve their editing skills. I hope I'm asked by Amazon to review the product. I have a few things to tell them!

King Donald
The president recently ordered governors to allow churches to open. He said if they didn't then he'd override them and order it himself. His rationale was that people needed to pray.
First, Trump doesn't have the authority to override governors on this issue. Second, I thought it was possible to pray just about anywhere. Why can't people go to a quiet place in their yard or if they don't have a yard just quietly sit in a chair in their homes? Does God really care where you go to talk to Him (Her? It?). Worship does not have to be confined to a particular location. After all, plenty of soldiers prayed long and hard in a foxhole!
So what's this all about? Well, you know as well as I do. Did you notice Trump was surrounded by evangelical leaders while he posed as king? They all looked dutifully somber and supportive. The reason is because with their churches closed, the flow of cash stopped. Pure and simple. It's about the money, gang. We all know that. Trump needs those evangelicals to encourage their flocks to support him. His base is shriveling by the minute.
Some governors will cave to him for the same reasons but there will be plenty of others who will tell him to go pound sand, i.e. Cuomo of NY and Lamont of CT for starters.
You need to pray? No problem. Stop talking, close your eyes and pray away!

At last-my web site is ready.
Well, it took a while but I finally finished transitioning my website to a new format. I've streamlined it somewhat because data has shown that there were certain high maintenance features that were not being viewed so I've made some adjustments.
The site now consists of pictures I have taken-all nature pictures. There's also a link to my grand daughter's photography efforts.
That means I will no longer be posting pictures in this space so go to georgeswebpage.com to see some pretty neat stuff.
There's also a contact me link so let me know what you think. Thanks.

A Blast from the Past
May 14, 1964-exactly 56 years ago today I, along with many other men, boarded a train in Bridgeport, CT bound for Fort Dix, New Jersey. It was the first day of our 2 year commitment in the U.S. Army. We had been drafted.
Talk to kids today and they haven't a clue what the draft meant to young men in those days but to people my age it was almost a rite of passage. When you turn 18 you must register for the draft (that still exists). Then in a couple of years, if you're healthy and not married or a student, you can expect to be drafted. The requirement is 2 years active duty, 2 years reserve and 2 years inactive reserve-a six year commitment.
When I was in I didn't have to do the 2 years reserve duty because there were so many men joining the reserve thinking it would get them out of Viet Nam so they let me off the hook since I did 2 years active.
As I think back to that day, I recall we were pretty glum because we were leaving home to an unknown adventure but no one really complained or felt victimized. It was simply something we had to do. We certainly weren't heroes. It was just something everyone did-unless of course you're a cowardly little rich boy who went whining to your daddy to get out of it but off hand I can only think of one person who did that. The rest of us just went. Personally it did me a lot of good.

Two welcome sights
Spring continues to be marked by blooms and the return of our feathered friends. First picture our pretty old flowering crabapple tree. Second picture the return of the hummers.
