Election Day 2019

Today is Election Day for municipalities.  Voters elect local officials throughout the state.  In Newtown where I live the top candidates for the executive branch are running unopposed.  All the other local positions have choices.

After today the political signs that appear on people's lawns will be replaced by signs for national candidates so don't think you're going to escape that particular kind of litter.  It also means there's one more year of intense politics, political commentary, nastiness, mud throwing, animosity, and generally awful behavior.  That in combination with all the impeachment talks is making for a situation where people are afraid to watch the news or even look at social media.  It's times like this when I'm very thankful for streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime.  And one mustn't forget books.  Lots and lots of reading.  In fact before too long I'll have a recommendation for a book I'm reading now.  So stay tuned and stay calm.  The year will go by fast-or not!
